A message to all members of Lone Star Tea Party

We ran a little experiment.

Friday 9:06AM we sent out our last email broadcast to the entire LSTP membership. Most of you had a LSTP email free weekend.

Later,  we sent out an email through several yahoo groups and one LSTP  group where everyone or most everyone are Tea Party leaders (80 to a 100).

We asked (requested) that they aggregate to their memberships (which is in the tens of  thousands) a video on a  Communism Expo presented to Chicago school children, which is mind blowing.

In the same broadcast we asked that the Saddle up Texas Straw Poll be posted on to their websites. At the same time we asked that they bring their websites up to date, you can look for yourself click here  or here click . We are not picking on them, we are trying to point out when someone new visits these websites what are they to think?

If your a member of a Tea Party that has a dormant website please ask the webmaster to bring it up to date and stay on top of it.

The aggregation percentage on the experiment was almost "zero".

Things are heard enough for Tea Party groups without leadership egos or laziness  getting in the way of simple requests. If we can't depend on the leadership of the Tea Parties to aggregate then we have to form a more perfect Texas Tea Party Union here at LSTP where you have the freedom to make sure a message gets passed on...

We can't depend on the media, we have to depend on each other, we must cooperate get involved or this will be our downfall. YOU IN?

Please have a look at the video that we requested the leadership have you look at.  LSTP top of front page...

See ya at the Saddle Up Texas Straw Poll,

LSV

Information from fellow Arlington Patriots watching out for us!!!!

Although I am not completely plugged into Buddies argument about recycling, there is an important element that he has omitted; the neighborhood eye sore that two 95 gallon wheeled carts create.  Few people who garage their cars and trucks have room to conceal these monsters so where will they go ... in the side yard or in front to develope into trash can city.  Will the scent attract critters;  I'm going to vote yes.  Could they eventually present a health concern from decomposing trash; once again I vote yes.   Will they get tossed around the streets during high winds .. maybe so.  Will the city try to impose a fine for those who leave two 95 gallon wheeled carts visable from the strreet ... I can see it coming neatly tucked away in the utility bill.   For those who have alley-ways; will there be more clutter to try to navigate around .. I think so.   Automated pickup and larger bins WILL NOT encourage recycling; environmentally aware people will.  Long before curb side recycling became fashionable, we recycled to the large centralized bins stationed in Walmart parking lots.  Newspaper and all of our waste paper products go to Rush Creek on a weekly basis.  Keep the bins, forget the automated inefficient trucks and dismiss the notion that the city council members have a clue about how to run city trash and recycling pick up influenced by Republic.  If this does get put in place, the city will be proud recipients on two 95 gallon wheeled carts from this houshold in protest in more DUMB government.  If the collective citizens of this city, send a clear message that this kind of crap is unacceptable; we just might finally get a real voice .. Clunk needs to find a new job .. maybe hair weaving; maybe a fashion model for the slick-haired frumpy know-it-alls.  We elect these folks to serve as the voice of the people .. when that fails, it is time to find new representation.  This approach will also work at the national level.

City misinformed, Republic does plan to replace bagged trash pickup with 95-gal. wheeled carts

Ladies and Gentlemen,

As a reader of our emails, you already know why a growing number of citizens oppose the new recycling plan.

Now there’s yet another reason to oppose the new recycling plan.

At Councilman Mel Leblanc’s well-attended September 28th town hall meeting last week, a representative from Republic Services was asked by a homeowner if the proposed change to recycling would extend to regular bagged trash as well.  Unaware that the city was telling citizens that there was no such plan to end bagged trash pickup, he let slip that the proposed plan was to go to the 95-gal. cart system for both trash and recycling.

Why wasn’t the city forthright with citizens on this important point? This is not the way citizens and taxpayers should be treated.

We picked up further information on curbside recycling at last week’s meeting.

Here briefly is a recap of key points:

·        You’ll be dealing with two 95-gal. wheeled carts, one for recycling, the 2nd for your regular trash.
·        Money out of your pocket: If the new recycling plan is approved, the citizens of Arlington will be paying $3.1 million per year to recycle (about $33.24 per year per household).  Do you want to put $33 of your household cash directly into the city dump each year, or would you rather spend it on your family?
·        Automated pickup is inefficient: The number of trucks picking up recycling under the proposed plan jumps from 6 to 13.  That’s because the new trucks can only pick up recycling carts along one side of the street at a time.  That means these new “automated” trucks will be on our streets twice as much time, slowing traffic, blocking traffic, making more noise than the current trucks, wearing out our streets twice as fast, and burning twice as much fuel, making them less environmentally friendly.
·        Wheeled carts don’t increase recycling: The only thing that does increase is the cost.
·        Current recycling option is cheaper and just as effective: Using the current recycling tub plan, those who want to recycle can recycle all they want with no tax increase.

For obvious reasons, if we must have curbside recycling, most citizens prefer to stay with the tub plan.

But what if recycling trash is a waste of time and money? Do we really want to bury $37.2 million tax dollars in the city dump over the next twelve years?

Consider these points:

·        Recycling is a “feel good” thing for the affluent, but such indulgences represent a burden on less well off families, including many elderly.
·        Why recycle trash? We are recycling plain old trash.  The glass is just melted sand, literally as common as dirt and as easily replaced. Plastics come from petroleum, another readily available resource, with more being discovered daily.  Paper, mostly newspapers, comes from renewable and sustainable tree farms.  The little bit of metals, and even less aluminum, is common, too. All of this stuff is so common that it is far cheaper to manufacture more using virgin stock rather than to recycle.
·        Plenty of room in our landfill. In fact, the United States today has more landfill capacity than ever before. Even our own city of Arlington landfill has ample room, so much that we import trash from other cities and earn money doing it.
·        There’ll be less to recycle in the years ahead.  Why? In great part because newspapers, a major recycling element, are dying.  Look at the Ft. Worth Star-Telegram.  If it gets much smaller, it’ll look like a #10 envelope! In the 1960s, Arlington had two daily newspapers, each as big as the Star-Telegram is now.  In a year or two the Star-Telegram may fold and you can expect the Dallas Morning News to slim down as well.
·        “We can’t stop recycling!” said a representative of Republic Services.  Why? “Because we would be the only big city not doing it.” If that’s the best argument in favor of curbside recycling, then proponents need to go back to the drawing board.

Want more information on why recycling is a dud deal? Check out the following two articles. They are real eye-openers!

Recycling makes some people feel good about themselves and their relationship to Mother Earth. It also exists as a profit center for disposal companies.  Beyond that, curbside recycling is nothing but an unproductive drain on a resource that really needs sustaining—the hard earned income of working families!

WE NEED YOU THERE

This Tuesday, June 14th at 6:30 PM the Mayor and City Council will meet to consider a thoroughfare plan that will affect traffic decisions for Arlington out to the year 2030.  This plan is predicated on the idea that even as Arlington's population grows by a projected 90,000, automobile usage in the city will drastically decline in the years ahead as the public switches to bicycles. To give you an example of the thinking of some city planners and, unfortunately, some of our council members, one council member told us that it was vital that Arlington construct bike corridors connecting to neighboring cities so that Arlington residents who wished to could bike to work in Dallas or Fort Worth.

Such thinking is silly.  We all know, or at least we should, that heavy bike usage occurs only under these conditions:

1.      Very dense population with consequentially congested streets, typically further acerbated by very high fuel prices.  Even then, car, truck, and bus traffic still overwhelms bicycle use-delivering the vast majority of people and all goods and services to where they need to be.

2.      A very low standard of living such as seen in third world countries.  Surely those at City Hall don't see this as Arlington's future.

Any building for bikes should be directed to where bike riding does occur in Arlington-recreational bike riding within our impressive and growing parks and greenways system.

We ask that you do the following:

1)      Today, using the link below, contact the Mayor and all members of the City Council and let them know that you want them to vote no on the Thoroughfare Development Plan.

2)      When you join us Tuesday, if you can please wear red or blue (our colors), and please bring as many friends, family, and neighbors as you can.  City staff is well-connected with the pro-bike lobby (the wear yellow). You can be sure they, too, are getting the word out.

3)      Arrive at the Council meeting early enough to fill out a card and mark that you oppose the thoroughfare plan.

4)      If we wish to speak at the meeting, also indicate that on the card.

5)      When speaking, keep in mind that you are speaking against the thoroughfare plan. Although this plan literally paves the way for on-street bike lanes, it is not the bike plan (which we will also have to kill when it comes up in August).

6)      Be there! This meeting matters. A weak showing on our side will encourage pro-bike lane council members to vote for the thoroughfare plan which will in turn make the bike plan possible, leading to loss of on street parking and lowered property values for residents.

Copied below are samples of what you'll seen when we show you the complete thoroughfare plan on Tuesday starting at 5:30.  Again, if this were a serious street plan addressing realistic needs, we would happily support it.

If you'd like to pick up a copy of the complete proposed thoroughfare plan (marked up to show the many bike elements), call the number below and ask for Buddy.  We also need folks to distribute flyers and talk to residents on affected streets.  Margaret Drive, for example, is being well covered and we are finding solid opposition to on-street bike lanes in front of people's homes.

Sincerely,

Buddy Saunders

Katherine--
The Washington Post reported just moments ago that talks between Speaker Boehner, Senator Reid, and President Obama have stalled over taxpayer funding of Planned Parenthood and efforts to weaken the EPA:
“Congressional negotiators working through the night on a budget deal largely agreed to an amount of spending cuts, but their talks were stymied by two Republican policy provisions on abortion and the environment, increasing the likelihood of a government shutdown beginning this weekend, Senate Majority Leader Harry M. Reid (D-Nev.) said Thursday morning.”
And pro-abortion Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid is digging in his heels. He’d rather shut down the government than cut off the flow of taxpayer dollars to Planned Parenthood:
“It’s not realistic to [delay this funding debate by] dealing with abortion. It’s not fair to the American people.”
Katherine, I know you agree with me that it’s not fair that the pro-life American majority has been forced to subsidize Planned Parenthood’s billion dollar abortion business with our hard-earned tax dollars.
It’s absolutely critical that you call your Member of Congress right now and tell them the pro-life House must stand strong in the fight to defund Planned Parenthood.

The lives of unborn children, women and girls are on the line—this is a non-negotiable.
If you need any further motivation, you should know that right now, Planned Parenthood is busing in activists from across the country for a massive rally and lobbying day here in Washington.
Click here to call your Member of Congress.
After you call, please send this e-mail to like-minded family members, friends, neighbors and co-workers and ask them to stand for Life by calling their Member of Congress as well.
I’ll be sure to keep you updated as this fight continues,
Marjorie

Savage: Look who's traveling with Obama
'Why are they hiding who's going with him to Brazil'?
By Michael Savage
March 19, 2011

Michael Savage found out who is traveling to Brazil with President Obama, but the information didn't come from any sources in the U.S.

"We had to go to Brazil to find it, translated from the Portuguese," Savage said on his nationally syndicated radio show yesterday.

CEOs Jeffrey Immelt of General Electric, Aris Candris of Westinghouse, James T. Hackett of Anadarko Petroleum, John V. Faraci of International Paper and Anthony S. Harrington of Albright Stonebridge Group went to Brazil with the president, Savage reported on his website.

"If this list were not so incendiary, why would it not be published as a matter of fact in the newspapers in America?" Savage asked his radio audience. "Why are they hiding who is going there?"

Of all the names, Savage found Harrington's the most interesting.

"Remember Sandy Berger, the man who hid state secrets in his underwear and socks?" Savage asked. "Well, he works for Anthony S. Harrington at Albright Stonebridge Group, as well as does the ... craziest woman in the history of the U.S. government, Madeline K. Albright."

On the face of it, he said, there is nothing about this trip, but, "Why then," he asked, "were these names so hard to find? Why did we have to get them in Portuguese?

"This looks like a gigantic fundraising tour, and indeed many of these CEOs are documented to have donated to Democratic candidates and causes," Savage said. "But for the president to embarrass himself by traveling to Rio at the time of the Japanese nuclear meltdown, the war in Libya, the Middle East on fire, the economy in ruins and the budget in a deadlock is astounding."

We have to assume, Savage concluded, "this is a fundraising trip for Obama and that those traveling with him will pay or have paid a handsome fee to do so - will soon be making a major contribution to him or to NPR."

This has been in the works for weeks

2 Very Important Issues

Dear Members,

Whether it be in Local, State or National government, there are parties at the negotiating table deciding what to do with our tax dollars.  For too long, the tax payer has been omitted from participating in the negotiations and the other negotiators have "no skin in the game".    We, on the other hand DO. This is why the Tea Party formed in the first place.  We wanted a seat at the table, and a voice in how OUR MONEY is being spent.  Here are two issues that you need to act on:

  1. Austin Save Our Schools Protest Are Demanding Access to Texas Rainy Day Fund.
  2. Congress Voting On Continual Resolution in D.C. Tomorrow

Save Our Schools Protest

Last Saturday, according to the media, between 11k and 12k students and teachers gathered at the Austin Capital to rally to save our schools. (Video) No one is going to argue against the need to fix our public school system.  Their solution is money.  The teachers want access to the Texas Rainy Day Fund in order to fill the budget shortfalls in order to save teacher's jobs.

Let's take a closer look at the current situation.  American's for prosperity came out with a great article:

The Red Apple Project: Highlights of Education Spending in Texas

In this article you will see that monies spent in school districts spend less than 1/2 of their budget on school instruction.  You will also see how top heavy school districts have become.  For every job in the teaching ranks is a job in the administrative staff level.  Most staffing jobs are 6 digit salaries. Some are in the hundreds of thousands of dollars.  This is insane.

Our governor wants local independent school districts to start cutting their budgets.  Instead of cutting administrative jobs, the districts have chosen to cut teacher jobs.  Obviously, the people in charge don't want to lose their jobs.  So what did they do?  They threatened that they were going to have to cut teachers jobs by the thousands.  They march all the poor teachers down to the Capital and have the Save Our Schools Rally to save Education by saving the teacher's jobs if they gain access to the Texas Rainy Day Fund.  No mention of cutting the 6 digit salaries or the 6 digit salary staff positions.  It is very clear that the independent school district officials do not want to make the sacrifices needed for our students or our teachers.

Please contact your State Representatives and Senators
  • Click Here to find out who your representatives are.
  • Say "No" to the Texas Rainy Day Fund
  • Demand that Independent School Districts reduce staffing jobs instead of teaching jobs.
  • Cite the facts from The Red Apple Project from Americans For Prosperity.

Congressional Continual Resolution

Tea Party Nation has issued an e-mail alert asking us to call our DC Congressmen immediately.  Under way is another CR (Continual Resolution) Vote to keep the government running for another 3 weeks.

Many of you have already seen that Michele Bachmann had uncovered the hidden $105 Billion funding in the Obama Health Care Law.  This funding was hidden so that no-one who voted on the bill new about it until after the bill was passed.  As part of the Continual Resolution Vote, Michele Bachmann and Steve King are fighting to have the $105 Billion defunded in this upcoming CR Bill.  This is the only way that we can defund Obamacare.  As of right now,Obamacare is initially funded.  We have to get this funding stripped from the Health Care Bill.

ATP:  Get ready, the ATP is going full throttle on local issues and elections. There is plenty to be upset about since they all think there is no end to the money "tax payers money". It doesn't matter whether it's a grant or rainy day fund or a tomorrow fund. It comes from or is owned by the tax payer. Government entities do not own property, the tax payer does.  Manipulation of the people is the order of the day.

As our government gets larger and larger the appetite for tax payers dollars will grow. Left unchecked by the private sector tax payer will lead to collapse if inflation doesn't get us first.

Unsustainable is just what it means.

The more we learn the more we don't like, it's a matter of time before we take major action....
